Vendemmia da Vinci 2011 was a great success!!!
Sunday, October 9, 2011 the da Vinci Society of Delaware held the 8th Annual Vendemmia Harvest of the Grapes Wine Festival at Tubman-Garrett Park on the beautiful Wilmington Riverfront. This year’s attendance reached 3,000 people, including many who traveled from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and as far away as Italy to celebrate the harvest of the grapes with the da Vinci Society of Delaware
Our guests sampled wines from every region of Italy, fantastic food from 32 restaurant and food vendors, a silent auction with over 60 items as well as enjoying day long professional entertainment including operatic performances, classic Italian and contemporary music. Our guests had the opportunity to participate in our annual homemade gravy contest as well as our annual hand crafted wine making contest, one of the largest such contest on the East Coast. Our annual drawing for a one week trip to Italy for 2 people was won by Loretta Dalena of Hartsdale, New York.
100% of the profit generated from the Vendemmia Festival goes back to the community through family assistance, scholarship, emergency medical and worthy cultural grants.
